While the Olympics is an inappropriate way for governments to spend boatloads money, it is an entertaining to show. Here are the top five moments of the 2010 Games’ first four days…

1. Nikki Yanofsky’s rendition of the O Canada:

Traditionalists argue that anthems should be sung “straight through.” Though too much creativity in an anthem can be annoying, this sixteen-year old’s stirring version was unbelievably powerful, perhaps the best of all-time. Words will never do it justice.

2. Georgia’s Entrance at the Opening Ceremony:

After the tragic death of luger Georgian Nodar Kumaritashvili, the crowd’s ovation for Georgia was touching.

3. Alexandre Bilodeau wins the gold:

The first Canadian gold medal on home soil and the raw emotion of the moguls star’s embrace with his brother combined to form a beautiful sporting moment.

4. China’s gold in figure skating:

Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo captured China’s first gold medal in figure skating. The husband and wife duo had retired, but chose to make a comeback for the 2010 Games. Indeed, it paid off, as the couple performed a superb routine to Queen’s Who Wants to Live Forever.

5. The Men’s Snowboard Cross Final:

Canadian Mike Robertson seemed to be in control of the race. He had a significant lead after the third turn. But, on the fourth turn, American Seth Wescott passed Robertson, en route to a thrilling victory and, of course, the gold medal.

Dear Readers,

After a three-month hiatus, Anabolic Stories has returned. Armed with a new and ameliorated design, the site is once-again ready to serve you, the loyal viewers, with “sports opinions with juice.”

The fresh A.S., on which you are browsing, was made possible by a fantastic design team. In building this platform, Harrison Jordan and Tyler Freedman worked tirelessly. They were an absolute pleasure to collaborate with. As such, I owe them my gratitude.

There are some new features to speak of. First, viewers can now comment on the page of an article. Below each post, there will be a comment box. Your remarks will be monitored for appropriateness. I am confident that you will use your discretion.

The most exciting novel component of the website is on the homepage. Almost everyday, I will respond to a relevant sports-related question. Some of these will definitely be audience-asked.

Anabolic Stories Radio will return soon. The format has not changed. An ASR episode will be posted immediately after its recording. Stay tuned for updates on program dates and guests. And, be sure to submit queries for a chance to have it featured on the show.

I am thrilled to be back and hope that you enjoy the alterations. As always, your feedback is encouraged and appreciated.

Thank you kindly for your support. I look forward to future debate, discussion, and correspondence.

Yours truly,

Jake Roth
