Aaron in Jamesville, North Carolina asks…

Jake-new reader, first time commenter: If you were the d.j, which songs would you play for a pre-game skate/warm-up (hockey)?

Great question, Aaron!

National Hockey League pre-game skates are approximately 17 minutes, which means that about four or five tunes are played. These songs ought to fit under the “pump up” hard rock umbrella. Good warm-up music selections should include a mix of new and old. The entrance track is pivotal. This piece must have a strong opening, specifically a memorable riff.

Listed below are two apt pre-game skate playlists:

Playlist #1:

In Bloom by Nirvana
Prayer by Disturbed
Break by Three Days Grace
Sound of Madness by Shinedown
Panama by Van Halen

Playlist #2:

Right Now by Van Halen (trimmed edition)
I Disappear by Metallica
Lying From You by Linkin Park
She Builds Quick Machines by Velvet Revolver
Savior by Rise Against
